For the second time this season Newcastle United have been drawn against League Two cup competition after pulling Bromley FC in the tie for the third round of the FA Cup.

In addition to the tie being against lower-league opposition, Newcastle were also drawn as the home team, meaning the conspiracy brigade can put their tinfoil hats and heated balls theories away for another year.

Sitting 20th (out of 24) in League Two, Bromley have only picked up three wins in the league this season, but had enough about them to see off the mighty Solihull Moors to book their place in the third round draw.

Bromley is managed by former Newcastle United goalkeeping coach Andy Woodman, who will no doubt be relishing the opportunity to return to St James' Park.

When the draw took place last night Bromley CEO Mark Hammond was alongside Assistant Manager Alan Dunne watching on and their reaction to pulling Newcastle was recorded and put up on the club's official X account.

The two celebrated the draw as if they'd won the entire competition before Dunne said, "Get Woody on the phone", referring, of course, to manager Andy Woodman.

It was quite the reaction to a draw that more than likely signals the end of their cup run, although Newcastle have fallen to lower league opposition plenty of times for Bromley to have confidence going into the January tie.

These clashes with lower-league opposition are what make the cups so much fun.

We loved the lead-up to the game against AFC Wimbledon earlier this season. The circumstances of everything weren't ideal with Wimbledon's ground suffering massive damage after a flood, but the way to two fanbases came together and created a bond was amazing.

We've no doubt that the Bromley Massive are itching to come to Newcastle to blow out their knees climbing up the steps to Level 7 to cheer their lads on. We can't wait.
