It's all eyes on St James' Park as Newcastle United take on Liverpool on Wednesday.

The Magpies are looking to bounce back from Saturday's disappointing 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace which saw them denied all three points by a 94th minute Daniel Munoz header, his first goal in 32 games.

It's a difficult game for Newcastle boss Eddie Howe and co to come back on but the news from Arne Slot that Liverpool will be without the likes of Ibrahima Konate and Kostas Tsimikas will be welcome news.

Newcastle are looking for a first win against Liverpool since 2015, a game that featured a goal from former red Gini Wijnaldum.

Howe has had to cope with his own injury problems as of late, but the latest round of training images are positive with a key star returning to training.

Jamaal Lascelles spotted in the Newcastle United gym following injury layoff

Newcastle central defender Jamaal Lascelles has been side lined with an anterior cruciate ligament injury since March. The layoff for an injury like that is usually between six and nine months.

The 31-year-old look to be recovering well and has now been captured in the latest round of training photos on the exercise bike while he fights to return to full fitness.

Before his injury, Lascelles had been enjoying a run in the first team - something he would like to get back to once back to full fitness.

However, there has been interest in the defender from the Premier League. Reports suggest that Wolves are interested in Lascelles as they work to overcome their leaky defensive woes.

No Alexander Isak in the Newcastle United training photos

Now we're not trying to do anything cryptic, but a few players were missing in the latest round of training pictures.

Most notably, Alexander Isak wasn't included. The forward was forced off during Saturday's draw at Palace with a knock to the hip. Howe confirmed the injury doesn't look too serious and Isak himself has even confirmed that he should be fine for Wednesday.

Other notable absentees were England International Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and Joe Willock.

Young midfielder Lewis Miley was snapped, he recently played an under-21s game as he aims to return to first team contention.
