Paris Saint-Germain have allocated Newcastle United less than the minimum 5% of tickets set by UEFA for the upcoming Champions League game.

For some reason, known only to those within the walls of the Parc des Princes, PSG have given Newcastle 400 fewer tickets than they are entitled to for when Newcastle travel to Paris for the next round of Champions League fixtures.

Their official reason is that it's due to safety concerns, but why 400 more Geordies are any more unsafe than 400 supporters of any other club is unclear.

The Newcastle United Supporters Trust are not happy

The Newcastle United Supporters Trust has been fighting this since September, but with the fixture getting ever nearer, are still no further forward.

As a result, the Trust today put out an official statement condemning the actions of PSG via their official site and their account on X.

The statement refers to a lack of evidence that would suggest that Newcastle United supporters would represent any kind of safety concern.

The NUST did not hold back in their statement

"Newcastle United Supporters Trust (NUST) is deeply disappointed that the allocation for our away Champions League fixture at Paris Saint-Germain FC (PSG) has been cut to below the minimum acceptable level set by UEFA. This means that 400 Newcastle United supporters will miss out on the opportunity of supporting the team at Parc des Princes on 28th November 2023.

"Our understanding is that this decision has been made unilaterally by PSG on safety grounds, with no compelling evidence, reason or justification for their decision.

"UEFA regulations clearly state that host clubs in their club competitions must provide 5% of their stadium capacity as an away allocation. The same regulations also state that host clubs are responsible for ensuring the safety of all fans attending.

Let's be honest, we know what's happening here. The good old Qatar/Saudi rivalry is at play with PSG doing anything they can to disrupt the mood around our club, especially now since we destroyed them on our home turf.

Well, that's our opinion anyway, and it's based on just as much evidence as their decision to stop 400 of our loyal followers from attending the game.
