Fans of Newcastle United could perhaps start to get that tingly feeling that a transfer may be coming down the line.

We're not just talking about that Luke Edwards "something might happen but it might not" tweet from yesterday either.

Fabrizio Romano posted on X just after 5pm that AC Milan have completed the signing of Strahinja Pavlovic.

It is widely believed that Pavlovic is seen as the replacement for Malick Thiaw who has been heavily linked with a move to Newcastle United.

This should be Newcastle's green light to get Malick Thiaw

Indeed, it had been claimed that Milan wouldn't sanction Thiaw's move until they had a replacement in place, so this could be another domino to fall in this long-running transfer ordeal.

Of course, there are still plenty of reports suggesting that the Magpies have yet to make a formal offer for Thiaw, which, it goes without saying, may hold things up somewhat.

Surely now though, this is the greenest and brightest of green lights to get the move done.

Surely there's nothing stopping us now

It's far too late now to bother flying him to Japan to join up with the squad there, but we could get the deal done and get him in and waiting for the squad's return along with Kieran Trippier and Anthony Gordon.

All the pieces are there now, they know what Milan want, the player is reportedly keen and Milan have their replacement, so what are we waiting for?

Let's do this!
