Newcastle United are sorely lacking that finishing touch this season with Alexander Isak scoring the team's first goal from open play in five games on Sunday.

There's been a real problem with creativity and confidence, but also relying on Alexander Isak has proved to be our downfall.

For whatever reason, Isak seems to be way off the mark this season. Obviously he's had that toe injury to contend with, but even before that he was far from the Isak we've all mentally slapped a £100 million plus price tag on.

Callum Wilson continues to defy medical science and Eddie Howe doesn't feel he can rely on Will Osula leaving the Magpies with very little options up front.

Christiantu Uche is not the immediate answer Newcastle needs

Mundo Deportivo claims Newcastle are leading the way for 21-year-old Getafe striker

But a report from Mundo Deportivo has Newcastle as one of several Premier League clubs tracking Getafe striker Christantus Uche.

Uche has impressed in La Liga with Bournemouth and Aston Villa set to compete with Newcastle for his signature in January.

Just two years ago, Uche was playing amateur football and now he's playing regularly in La Liga with Premier League clubs hot on his trail.

Christiantus Uche may be a good player but he's not what we need right now

Despite the hype, Uche has just one goal to his name this season in 11 appearances, so he's clearly not the immediate answer we're looking for.

He's also the same age as Will Osula and Eddie Howe is treating him like he's a fresh faced teenager straight out of the academy, so how often is he likely to play?

We absolutely need a striker, but we need one who can hit the ground running. We have Will Osula for the future, we need someone for now, someone to replace Callum Wilson and one who can put up a good challenge for the first-team place. Alexander Isak has nobody pushing him right now so he's coasting. Bring in Jonathan David and make him fear for his place.
