Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero has given his thoughts on Bruno Guimaraes after reports linking the Newcastle United star to Pep Guardiola's side emerge.

Reports linking Bruno Guimaraes with a move away from St James' Park are as regular as a Fabian Schar head injury.

Pretty much since the minute he scored that outlandish backheel against Southampton, there have been rumours that Guimaraes would leave Newcastle for a 'bigger club', often Real Madrid or Barcelona, but recently Manchester City's name has been a regular sighting too.

Pep Guardiola has made no secret of his admiration of Bruno, but he's never even hinted at making an approach for the Brazil international.

Bruno is ours, accept it!

We long for the day our big stars aren't subject of exit rumours

The sad fact is, that as long as he remains at Newcastle while they have no silverware to parade around, the more he's going to be linked with a move away.

It doesn't seem to matter how fervently Bruno talks about how much he loves it at Newcastle and wants to stay here for years, the fact that he's openly said he has ambitions to one day play in Spain is always brought up as him saying he wants to leave Newcastle right now.

Nobody is expecting Bruno to see out his career at Newcastle, we know he will move on at some point, but let us just enjoy the fact that he's here now, please? We don't want to have to think about the possibility of losing him just yet. I mean, unless someone comes in with a ridiculous offer that's well over £100million - especially as his release clause only applies to a select few clubs who are unlikely to be able to afford him this summer.

Cool story, Sergio, compelling and rich

And now The Shields Gazette has found a quote from Sergio Aguero who has given his thoughts on the idea of Bruno moving to City.

“I haven't been following the trade market. There's usually a lot of chatter in the months leading to the window and you never know how it plays out. Bruno's style as a midfielder matches City's, that much I can say, but I wouldn't be able to tell you more than that.”

Bruno's style would fit in anywhere, Sergio, mate. That's why he's so highly rated, but for now, and for next season at least (we hope), he's a Newcastle United player.
