A right-winger is perhaps an even bigger priority for Newcastle United than it already was, with Miguel Almiron edging closer and closer to an exit.

Newcastle aren't likely to address the gaping hole in the squad that Miguel Almiron's departure will leave this month, but a new winger will be top of the list in the summer, for sure.

Jacob Murphy and an assortment of players playing out of position are likely to be charged with holding the fort until the summer, but when that off-season transfer window opens, we expect to be linked with anyone who has ever had a good game on the right flank.

Newcastle have been linked with players like Bryan Mbeumo, Antoine Semenyo, Rayan Cherki and Johan Bakayoko to name a few, and now a name that many will have forgotten about has reared its head again.

Newcastle are still keen on Baris Alper Yilmaz of Galatasaray

Baris Alper Yilmaz was a player Newcastle were linked with briefly last year. The 24-year-old winger currently plays for Galatasaray where he's netted 11 goals and provided two assists in 29 outings this season.

Transfer journalist Dean Jones has been speaking about Newcastle's interest in Yilmaz on the Market Madness podcast (via Give Me Sport) where he's said that Yilmaz may not be the signing to get fans off their feet but he'd be a good fit.

"I spoke to someone this morning about this. I said, 'what potentially exciting signings could we see at Newcastle coming up?'.

"One that I think we should be looking for is [Baris Alper] Yilmaz at Galatasaray, and this has been mooted already. Not hugely, but he has been linked.

"He's 24, can play on both flanks. In terms of profile I think that he's a good fit. He's not necessarily one of those really exciting ones.

"Is he going to send waves throughout the fan base? Probably not, but he's also not necessarily as easy to get as you might believe."

Newcastle may find the Turkey international is a far cheaper alternative to Bryan Mbeumo

Yilmaz also has 24 international caps for Turkey and two goals so he's a winger who knows where the goal is.

We've no idea what a deal for Yilmaz would cost but we're sure it would be a lot less than if we were to focus on Bryan Mbeumo or anyone else from the Premier League.

We're sure we'll see his name again before the summer.
