Six years after arriving on Tyneside for a club-record £21 million, Newcastle United's Miguel Almiron is set to move back to the club from which he was bought - Atlanta United in the MLS.

Miguel Almiron's Newcastle future has been up in the air for a year now after a series of proposed moves failed last January and in the summer.

It had looked like Almiron was heading to Saudi Arabia this time last year with Al-Shabab believing they'd got their man, but the Paraguayan opted to stay on Tyneside.

In the summer it was Newcastle who pulled the plug on a deal that looked like going ahead after they couldn't agree a fee with MLS side, Charlotte FC.

Going to have to rename my cat now!

Miguel Almiron has played his last game for Newcastle United

Now, Miggy's old club, Atlanta FC have agreed to a £10 million fee with Newcastle for Miggy and it seems the player is happy to return to the club where he is a true icon.

The deal has been in the works for a while but now the Daily Mail has reported that it's expected to be finalised this week and that Miggy has played his last game for the club.

It's still highly unlikely that Newcastle will use the money they get from the sale this month, leaving Jacob Murphy to hold down that right-wing position on his own for now.

Newcastle will keep the Miggy money for their summer spending spree

It's less than ideal selling Miggy now with Harvey Barnes injured, but if we didn't get shot of him now, we'd end up having to wait for his contract to expire.

At least the money we get in for him now will add to the money we're stockpiling for a summer spending spree.

Imagine we get to summer, and the club spouts off about PSR and being skint again, and we end up signing nobody. No, seriously, imagine it now so that you can deal with it when it happens.
