Newcastle United have been told what it will now cost to land 'priority' target Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford

Newcastle United aren't expected to do any incoming business during this window but they have been putting feelers out with a view to some summer moves.

There's always a possibility that should something change, Newcastle may be forced into the market, or they may see a deal as too good to pass up.

Miguel Almiron is edging closer to a move back to Atlanta United and as such, Newcastle may feel they need to accelerate their hunt for a new right winger, as Jacob Murphy will be left without proper cover.

However, a winger of the quality Newcastle need won't come cheap, and as such, Newcastle are more likely to wait until the summer to do that kind of business.

Brentford now want £60 million for Bryan Mbeumo

Newcastle have been heavily linked with Brentford's in-form winger, Bryan Mbeumo as have our good friends, Arsenal, but Give Me Sport is now reporting that the 13-goal forward won't come cheap.

It had been reported that the Bees were looking for £50 million for Mbeumo last year, but after his form this season, it's now claimed to be more like £60 million.

That will definitely rule Newcastle out of a January move, although the report suggests that Newcastle are the only club to have made an actual enquiry so far.

Will Newcastle United spend big in the summer?

Newcastle fans are hoping/expecting that a quiet January window will mean some serious spending in the summer, but some reporters are already advising caution around that thinking as PSR is still a huge issue.

After posting a profit last year, and the potential £10 million income from selling Miguel Almiron, there is likely to be more money to spend in the summer.

If Newcastle finish in a Champions League spot and maybe even lift a trophy this season, that may also allow Newcastle to spend more, but we still doubt we're going to see spending like we did in Eddie Howe's first transfer window. A £60 million move for any one player may still be deemed too high.
