Newcastle United may be finally about to actually sell a first-team player without it being forced by ridiculous financial rules.

Eddie Howe is still ruing having to sell Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson in the summer purely to appease PSR, but part of the reason the club were in that mess is his reluctance to sell players.

Paul Mitchell's arrival as sporting director has given Newcastle fans hope that the deadwood will finally be cut, but injuries and excellent form keep putting paid to that plan.

Finally, however, there appears to be some positive movement on the exit front as Miguel Almiron looks to be heading back to Atlanta United in the MLS.

Craig Hope is confident that Miguel Almirion will leave Newcastle in this window

Daily Mail journalist Craig Hope is now reporting that he expects the deal to get done after saying on his post-match YouTube video last night that the Atlanta United interest is 100% genuine.

Atlanta's £10 million offer is likely to be accepted and Miguel Almiron will return to the club from which Newcastle signed him as their record transfer for £21 million back in 2018.

Meanwhile, Fenerbahce's bid for Lloyd Kelly (between £6 million and £10 million depending on where you look) is to be flat-out rejected as being way off their valuation.

Let's not second-guess ourselves and just let Miggy go

Of course, it wouldn't be a Craig Hope update without a negative to throw in there, and Hope believes that even if the Miggy deal goes through, Newcastle are unlikely to spend this month.

While Newcastle will only have one recognised right-winger when Miggy goes in the form of Jacob Murphy, there are several players in the squad who can do a job there if needs be.

After trying to offload Miggy for a year, they can't let an injury to Harvey Barnes or a lack of backup stop them this time. It's time to let him go.
