They're at it again! The London-centric media putting two and two together and getting fourteen regarding Newcastle United, Arsenal and Alexander Isak.
We've had a few merry old rants here at NUFC Feed about the level of entitlement surrounding Arsenal's belief that they are in some way owed Alexander Isak, and in fairness to Arsenal fans, it's more the media pushing the narrative than the fans themselves.
Now, The Mirror, while not so much pushing the entitlement narrative as such, have managed to come up with a way to give Arsenal fans false hope.
As things stand, Newcastle have Alexander Isak as their main striker, backed up by the never-fit Callum Wilson and the project player, Will Osula. There isn't really anyone to step in that Eddie Howe can rely on right now should Isak pick up an injury.
Callum Wilson's contract is due to expire in the summer and he is likely to leave the club - unless Eddie Howe decides to offer him another contract which will absolutely blow my mind.
That leaves Isak and Osula as our only two strikers, so it's therefore hardly surprising that Newcastle are on the hunt for a new centre-forward to come in to strengthen the numbers.
The Magpies are one of many clubs linked with a move for Jonathan David who is set to leave Lille in the summer and become a free agent, but The Mirror have interpreted our interest in David as 'preparing for life after Isak'.
Aye, because we're only allowed one top-class striker as we're only Newcastle United.
It's so infuriating seeing the London logic when it comes to our players and where they all believe our big stars should be playing. The whole 'everyone wants to live in London' cliche is so tired and absolutely untrue, yet pundits and journalists will wheel it out at the drop of a hat to suggest that a player would rather move to the likes of Arsenal or Chelsea over Newcastle.
So, one more time for the cheap seats - Alexander Isak isn't automatically destined to move to Arsenal.
