Pundits with connections to Arsenal seem to live in their own little Gunners-centric world where everyone should bow down to their club and, honestly, it's getting tiresome now.
It feels like NUFC Feed is becoming as much an anti-Arsenal page as it is a pro-Newcastle United one lately thanks to brainless pundits who seem to think that Newcastle should deliver Alexander Isak to London on a velvet cushion and bow repeatedly as we back out of the room.
Yes, Arsenal would be a force to be reckoned with if they had Alexander Isak in their team. Literally any Premier League side would be, that's why Newcastle United will do everything they can to keep hold of him.
Should an insane bid come in for Isak that would drastically alter Newcastle's ability to spend, then there may be a moment of thought given to letting him go, but it's not going to happen without a fight and a simply insane sum of money involved.
Former Arsenal academy player Jay Bothroyd may now have come up with the worst take on the situation when talking to Sky Sports (h/t The Chronicle). He's had some tough competition from other London-based pundits/journalists. Henry Winter's 'it's not fair' rant on TalkSPORT was the previous table-topping take, but Bothroyd may have clinched it with this word salad.
"With all due respect to Newcastle, they're on an upward trajectory, they have got the Saudi backing and they're a very good club, but Arsenal are one of the biggest clubs in the world. The biggest clubs in the world can go and take players off Newcastle. We have seen Man United do it, Real Madrid do it and Man City go and do it.
"I don't see Newcastle letting Alexander Isak go right now, but you can get him at the end of the season. Regardless of what managers and players say, we have had loads of stories of Sir Alex Ferguson ringing up players and asking, 'Do you want to play for Man United?' 'Of course I do.'
"That happens in football and I feel if you were to go to Isak and his representatives and say, 'Do you want to play for Arsenal Football Club?' Arsenal Football Club are a step forward regardless of where Newcastle are right now."
It's time to analyse, rant and rebuff. Get comfy, dear readers.
"Arsenal are one of the biggest clubs in the world" - By what metric, though? How does one measure the size of a club? It's a facile argument that people make all the time, but 'big club' means different things to different people and therefore counts for precisely nothing.
"The biggest clubs in the world can go and take players off Newcastle" - Well, they can't, can they? They can buy players off Newcastle, sure. But so could Wrexham. It's about whether the deal makes sense, not whether the club is "bigger". Unless, of course, he's talking about free transfers, but of course, they only happen once the contract has expired, so you're not taking them from Newcastle, you're just taking them away from where they used to work.
"I don't see Newcastle letting Alexander Isak go right now, but you can get him at the end of the season" - Can you? Just like that, eh? You can just go get him; no negotiations involved? Newcastle and Isak have no say on the matter? Of course not, because you're Arsenal, and you're one of the biggest clubs in the world.
"Regardless of what managers and players say, we have had loads of stories of Sir Alex Ferguson ringing up players and asking, 'Do you want to play for Man United?' 'Of course I do.'" - Alan Shearer. That is all I have to say on that one.
"Arsenal Football Club are a step forward regardless of where Newcastle are right now." - The two domestic cup competitions might have something to say about that, Jay. Who's that team with the 2-0 lead going into the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final?
Back in your box, Jay, you've made a fool of yourself enough for the rest of the year.
