Newcastle United's January transfer window is all about clearing space and making or at least saving money, so player exits are the order of the day rather than incoming deals.

However, not everyone is up for grabs, obviously. Newcastle have to fend off interest for their big stars, such as Alexander Isak and Sandro Tonali, although we feel that any talk of moves for those players is purely media-driven rather than based on any semblance of reality.

Miguel Almiron currently looks like the only meaningful departure that's set to happen this month as his move back to Atlanta United nears completion.

Sean Longstaff has been touted as the next possible exit, although as things stand we're unaware of anyone actually making a move for the academy graduate.

Sturm Graz want Will Osula to replace their striker Mika Biereth

Now, though, TransferFeed on X have run a story suggesting that Sturm Graz, who were battered 5-0 by Atalanta in the Champions League last night, want Newcastle striker Will Osula on loan for the remainder of the season after their strike Mika Biereth moved to Monaco.

This is surely an absolute non-starter for Newcastle given that Osula, while vastly underused by Eddie Howe, is our only real backup striker for Alexander Isak as Callum Wilson is forever injured.

Granted, Howe has often turned to playing the likes of Anthony Gordon or Joelinton up front rather than utilising Will Osula, but still, letting him go would still be mental.

Will Osula is very unlikely to leave Newcastle this month

Osula recently scored his first Newcastle United goal in the FA Cup game against Bromley and the confidence that will have given him would all be undone if we were to let him go knowing we had no backup.

Newcastle World have looked into this in more detail and have been unable to find a source beyond the link from TransferFeed so there's definitely no cause for alarm here.

Will Osula will be staying put. Now we just need Eddie Howe to remember he's there.
