Newcastle United are moving ever closer to selling Miguel Almiron to Atlanta United in a deal which will net the Magpies around £10 million this month.

Martin Dubravka was the other player looking likely to leave this month, but now the Slovakian has agreed to stay on after becoming an important first-team figure.

There are players who seem like they should be placed outside on the doorstep awaiting another club to come and pick them up and take them away, such as Matt Targett who has definitely lost his left-back spot to Lewis Hall who has Dan Burn and Lloyd Kelly as back up.

However, it's believed that Sean Longstaff would be the most likely first-team player to leave after Miguel Almiron this month.

Sean Longstaff could still leave this month

Sean Longstaff is more likely to leave Newcastle this month than Matt Targett

Last month it was suggested that Longstaff could leave Newcastle in January as he would be a pure profit sale in terms of PSR having come through the academy.

Newcastle even gave Longstaff a contract extension in order to keep his value, but so far no clubs have made an approach.

The Athletic, however, still see Longstaff as more likely to leave than the likes of Matt Targett and, in truth, it would be a more beneficial move in terms of building up the transfer pot for summer.

Could Man United come back with that £50 million bid for Longstaff, please?

Having made 22 appearances this season, Longstaff has been an unused sub in four of the last five Premier League games suggesting that Eddie Howe doesn't see him as useful as he once did now that his midfield is clicking and the likes of Lewis Miley and Joe Willock are fit.

How much Newcastle would expect to bring in for Longstaff is unknown, but we expect it'll not be as much as the £50 million he was once valued at when Manchester United came knocking all those years ago.

There's still time to get a deal done, but we need an interested club first.
