Newcastle United have a few players pointed firmly at the exit door as we head into January but whether a new home can be found for these players is a different story entirely.
Callum Wilson has managed to avoid the axe yet again after picking up another injury, although Eddie Howe still seems very reluctant to let him go.
Kieran Trippier and Miguel Almiron have been linked with moves away from the club for a year now but Newcastle seemingly values Almrion higher than anybody else does, not to mention the fact that the Paraguayan is dug in like a tick.
Trippier is a bit of an unknown right now, things have gone rather quiet on that front after it was reported that he was desperate to leave in the summer.
Meanwhile, Sean Longstaff has enjoyed a fair amount of football this season but is very aware that he is no longer first choice, and indeed it now seems that Joe Willock has leapfrogged him in the pecking order.
It could be in both Longstaff and the club's best interest to sell him in January. His status as an academy product means that his sale generates pure profit in terms of PSR, giving more headroom for the club to play with for incoming transfers, while he could go to a club where he's going to be selected every week.
Chris Waugh has spoken about this in his weekly Q&A for The Athletic where he's said that Longstaff is the more likely of the players linked with an exit to actually leave the club in January.
A move away from Newcastle would bring an end to the Geordie's 21-year career at the club where he's always given his all when called upon.
Longstaff blows hot and hold in terms of form but overall it's widely accepted that he's not at the level the club is currently aiming for.
It would be a shame to see another one of our own go, but Newcastle really need to start being more ruthless and way less sentimental when it comes to transfers.
