January is likely to see Newcastle United move on a few players in a bid to create some PSR headroom for new arrivals.

Said arrivals may have to wait until the summer, but any money raised next month will have a big effect on the amount of money the club will be able to spend in the off-season.

Miguel Almiron and Martin Dubravka are both said to be close to exits, but we've heard all that before.

Kieran Trippier is once again said to be keen on a move away, after talk of an exit had calmed down after intense speculation in the summer.

Sean Longstaff is being eyed by three Premier League clubs

However, The Daily Mail now believe that three Premier League clubs are 'aware' of the situation around Sean Longstaff and could be ready to pounce in January.

Longstaff recently signed a contract extension at Newcastle, but it was more a case of preserving his value rather than risking him leave on a free.

With Longstaff being an academy graduate, any money we raise by selling him is counted as pure profit in terms of PSR and will open up plenty of headroom.

Everton are said to be at the front of the queue

Everton is being touted as the most likely destination for the 27-year-old but Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers are both said to be keen also.

Sean Longstaff has been a massively important part of Newcastle's rise under Eddie Howe, and, at times, has been vastly underrated. However, a strong argument could be made that he's not at the right standard for a sustained assault on those Champions League places.

Newcastle have been notoriously bad at selling players since the takeover, so hopefully Paul Mitchell will be a bit more ruthless and we'll actually see some players cleared out next month.
