Watch: Marc Guehi beaten in the air for Nantes goal in today's friendly - £65m came away unscathed

Newcastle United fans had a bit of a wobble today when they found out that Crystal Palace were to field Marc Guehi in their final pre-season friendly despite ongoing talks with the Magpies.

We saw Marc Guehi's inclusion in today's Crystal Palace squad as a sign that there's still no agreement on the price for the 24-year-old.

Therefore Guehi is still very much a Crystal Palace player and the club are entitled to do with him as they please.

We absolutely would not be this relaxed about the situation had Guehi picked up an injury in today's friendly, but it looks like he came out of it absolutely fine, so it's all good.

However, as NUFCBlog pointed out on X, the big England defender was at fault for Nantes' goal in the 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park.

Nantes took the lead from a corner with Jean-Charles Castelletto leaping above the Newcastle target and nodding home.

It was far from the biggest whoopsie a defender could make. It's not like he hooked it into his own goal or gave away a penalty or something.

Guehi is still the one for Newcastle

We have absolutely zero worries about Guehi's ability, we're not digging him out to try and suggest we should find someone else, we're merely reporting on what happened which is exactly what NUFCBlog are doing too. Neither of us are suggesting in any way that Guehi wouldn't be an amazing signing for Newcastle.

We now just have to sit and wait to see what happens next. After surviving the game with no injuries, we just hope that the two clubs can come to an agreement quickly.

Even if we do sign Marc Guehi this week, we expect that the best we'll get on Saturday is a cameo from the bench. We don't see him being thrown in at the deep end straight away.
