Wor Flags have created a huge display for this afternoon's game against Manchester United that will pay tribute to Newcastle United legend Kevin Keegan.

It's a display that was planned earlier in the season for Liverpool's visit to St James' Park but Wor Flags opted to scrap it last minute to go with something more generic.

At the time, Newcastle were suffering a run of poor form and it felt like a display more geared towards the players and spurring them on was more appropriate.

This weekend will see the Kevin Keegan display in all its glory. Although, despite holding out hope, the man himself will not be here to see it.

Fans have called for an Eddie Howe display

It won't just be Kevin Keegan who won't see the display, as Eddie Howe will be absent from the ground too.

Reports came out yesterday that Eddie Howe's illness saw him taken to hospital on Friday where he was undergoing tests. There hasn't been an official update as yet, but the Newcastle gaffer has been inundated with well wishes.

Some fans have even called for the Keegan display to be postponed again in favour of something more Eddie Howe-centric, but as Wor Flags have said, that would require time they just do not have.

Wor Flags have issued a statement on the Kevin Keegan display

It's not just the time required to change the display, it's also the time that has already gone into the display with Wor Flags issuing this statement this morning.

"We appreciate the messages we’ve received since yesterday evening regarding today’s display.

"Hundreds of hours have gone into creating it, and in the short time frame there’s no way we can pull it, it would also mean so much wasted material that fans have paid for.

"As much as we celebrate the present, we fondly remember the past and salute those who will always have a lasting impact on our club and our fans.

"King Kev set the standards for Newcastle United as both player and manager, and today we pay homage to the legend. We’re sure Eddie Howe would agree that a massive atmosphere is needed throughout the 90."

Well said. We're sure it won't change anything in terms of how much the fans will be singing for Eddie throughout the match.

Let's get the three points for the gaffer today! HOWAY EDDIE HOWE'S JASON TINDALL MAGS!
