Earlier in the season Wor Flags had a display ready to go dedicated to Newcastle United legend Kevin Keegan but a run of poor form at the time saw them postpone the display, instead opting for something aimed more at trying to inspire the players.

The original plan was for the display to take place before Liverpool's visit to St James' Park which would have been apt given Keegan played for both clubs.

Now that Newcastle have turned their season around, the plan is for the Keegan display to go ahead on Sunday ahead of the game against Manchester United. And we're sure Keegan would LOVE IT if we beat them.

Kevin Keegan hasn't witnessed a game at St James' Park since 2008 following his falling out with previous owner Mike Ashley.

When the takeover went through Kevin Keegan was handed an open invitation to return to the club at any time, but so far 'The Messiah' has not taken the club up on their offer.

Originally he said he didn't want to take any of the attention away from the new owners and Eddie Howe, later suggesting he would return once Newcastle lifted a trophy.

Newcastle have of course done that now and as such, Keegan's excuses are running out.

Kevin Keegan is on Tyneside this weekend but likely will not be at St James' Park

The Daily Mail are reporting that Keegan will be in the region over the weekend attending some form of event, but they also claim Keegan will not be at St James' Park to see his Wor Flags dedication.

Of course, anything can change between now and Sunday afternoon as we doubt Keegan would have to ring the box office to try and get a ticket for the game, but as things stand, a long-awaited return for King Kev will have to wait.

Regardless of whether the man himself is there to see it or not, we can't wait to see the legend honoured with a magnificent display and to hear his name ring out around St James' Park again.
