Former Newcastle United boss has suggested that Jason Tindall has found himself in a dream scenario at Newcastle United right now.

While, obviously, we're sure Jason Tindall would rather have Eddie Howe alongside him in the dugout and being the man in charge, Tindall can be very happy with how things have gone since he stepped up to fill in for Howe while he recovers from pneumonia.

Mad Dog Tindall has had two games in charge of Newcastle this season now and won both by convincing margins, with the team bagging nine goals in the process.

A bigger test awaits Tindall on Saturday as he takes the side to Aston Villa for a 5:30pm kick-off live on Sky Sports with both sides chasing a Champions League place and both in good form.

Alan Pardew says the Newcastle United team picks itself right now

Alan Pardew, however, thinks Tindall has got it made right now and won't have to do a great deal ahead of Saturday's game, but he does acknowledge that it will be a tougher test for Tindall.

“It’s been a dream for (Tindall) to come in as a manager and win two with four and five (goals). He’s going to go into that Villa game, he hasn’t even got to make a change! He can just name the same team again. It’s brilliant for him.

“I think it’s a really interesting game. Emotionally for Villa, that would have been a hard task (against PSG), and to pick the boys up and get them back up for the weekend is going to be a difficult job, whereas Newcastle’s turnaround – they’re bubbling. They’ll be looking forward to it.

“Interesting, but as Jason said, only one home defeat for Villa, so a tough ask. You’d expect Villa to get something. Maybe a draw or a win.”

Newcastle can afford to drop points - but that doesn't give them an excuse to do so

We certainly agree that Tindall won't have to change the starting XI for Aston Villa, in fact, he'd be crazy to do so, but there's still plenty of work to do as Villa will be an entirely different prospect to Crystal Palace who were, in turn, different to Manchester United.

He's still got to have his tactical head on to build up the right game plan for his side before Saturday's game.

Newcastle are well and truly in the driving seat for a Champions League place now, but just because we can afford to drop points, doesn't mean we should be taking our foot off the gas, and we're sure that Tindall will be making sure his players are aware of that too.
