Arsenal started to get on Newcastle United's collective chebs recently with their bullish attitude towards their apparent pursuit of Alexander Isak.

Thankfully, they have admitted defeat in that quest after realising there was no way they could afford to even attempt to make Newcastle talk with them about a deal.

Of course, now we have to deal with Liverpool's dream of landing Alexander Isak which will be frustrating enough.

But now, reports are coming out that Arsenal aren't done trying to unsettle players that we have no intention of letting go.

Anthony Gordon now on Arsenal's radar

David Ornstein believes Arsenal are looking at Anthony Gordon as an option for their left-wing problem

The Athletic's David Ornstein has dropped Anthony Gordon's name into the mix when it comes to Arsenal's attempts to land a left winger.

Ornstein claims that the Gunners are one of several top clubs coveting our rapid England star.

"A wide attacker has been on the agenda for some time and I do hear left-winger is a position they are considering this summer. We all know Nico Williams is a player Mikel Arteta admires, but that doesn’t mean it will happen.

"There will be many names in the frame; for example, Arsenal are one of multiple top clubs who like Anthony Gordon. But, again, it doesn’t mean much unless something develops and we have no indications of that yet."

Transfer silly season is coming

While this is really far from saying that Arsenal are even attempting to make a bid as yet, it's just a hint of what's coming this summer as all of our top players will once again be targets of intense transfer speculation.

We might as well brace for it now as the futures of Isak, Gordon, Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and probably Sven Botman will all be fair game for desperate journalists.

Let's just have fun with it, eh? I enjoy picking these stories apart almost as much as I enjoy stories about who we're allegedly targetting.
