'I'm joining the petition': Harvey Barnes agrees that 'unbelievable' Newcastle United star deserves international recognition

There are few English players in the Premier League in better form recently than Jacob Murphy and as such Newcastle United fans are issuing calls for him to be called up for England.

If the England team were picked purely on form, there'd be absolutely no doubt that Murphy had earned a call-up, but we know that's not how it works.

Newcastle fans have spoken about setting up a petition to get Murphy his call-up, and knowing our fans, they'll bloody well do it too.

Harvey Barnes will add his signature to the list if such a petition were to materialise after being impressed with his teammate recently.

Jacob Murphy is receiving strong calls for an England call-up

Speaking to Optus Sport after the 5-0 thrashing of Crystal Palace last night, Harvey Barnes was asked about the form of Jacob Murphy and told about the talks of a petition.

"He's playing unbelievable.

"He's such a character in the changing room and deserves everything he's getting. I'm joining the petition."

In fairness, Harvey Barnes could consider himself a candidate for an England shout too, as TNT Sports posted on X last night, his stats aren't exactly poor either.

Where will Jacob Murphy put his Ballon d'Or?

Never mind a petition to get him an England call-up, where's the Jacob Murphy statue going to go? And does he have a place on his shelves for his Ballon d'Or?
