Newcastle United academy graduate Elliot Anderson was earmarked for great things going into this season but a back injury severely derailed his season.
Since returning from injury, Eddie Howe has been cautious with Anderson's return, but the skilful midfielder dubbed the "Geordie Maradona" is looking back to full strength with a string of excellent displays.
Anderson's relentless energy and determination have been huge assets as Newcastle have gone on this unbeaten run following the last international break.
However, Anderson is placing the credit elsewhere after Newcastle hammered Tottenham yesterday.
Andy Sixsmith caught up with Elliot Anderson after the game posting this quote to X on Sunday where Anderson praises Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon.
“We’re going in the right direction. It’s been tough this season but I’ve never doubted the lads. We believe in each other and now it’s starting to show. Alex Isak is ridiculous, man. Every day in training he’s top. A pleasure to play with him and see him do what he does. Gordon is another one. Those two are playing amazing football.”
Isak added to his impressive goals tally with a brace yesterday while Gordon bagged himself a goal and an assist as his amazing season continues.
Eddie Howe deployed the front three we've been dying to see yesterday, the Notorious B.I.G. as Craig Hope dubbed them - Harvey Barnes, Isak and Gordon and the three linked up brilliantly.
Hopefully, we'll see more of that as the season comes to a close with Elliot Anderson's dogged determination, winning the ball for them to turn defence into attack.
Anderson's wait for his first senior goal continues, but if he keeps playing like he has been it surely will come before the season ends.
