Newcastle United have once again been linked with an interest in Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen.
Former Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen has been on Newcastle's radar for a while now with rumours about a move swirling around in the summer before returning again just this week.
The 27-year-old Danish international has clearly caught the eye of Eddie Howe as he looks to add defensive reinforcements to the ranks, but as we said yesterday, a January switch seems very unlikely.
Now, according to Danish outlet Tipsbladet, we can upgrade 'unlikely' to 'definitely not happening'.
Citing the rumours as "pure spin", Tipsbladet claims they've been told that Barcelona and Christensen are happy with the situation they are currently in with the club not wanting to sell and the player not wanting to move.
They even go as far as to state that Christensen will not be on the move in the summer either.
"Andreas Christensen is not on his way away from FC Barcelona at all, and the Danish national team star has nowhere to go. Neither now nor this summer."
Barcelona's precarious financial position may give Newcastle a glimmer of hope, but it'll certainly not happen in this window with FFP still a huge factor in any business Newcastle can do in January.
It was said in the report yesterday that Howe would revisit a move for Christensen in the summer if he can't do the deal this month, but we'll have to wait and see.
