While Newcastle United's priority in the upcoming transfer window has to be a right-winger, it seems that the Magpies have other targets in mind too.

As we said this morning, if Newcastle fail to add a right-winger in January it could be disastrous, but it appears that Paul Mitchell and Co may have other ideas in mind.

The latest player being eyed by Newcastle according to Caught Offside is a 20-year-old playmaker who is already making waves at his club RB Salzburg.

In fact the Israeli playmaker is catching the attention of many big clubs around Europe with Newcastle joining the queue.

Oscar Gloukh has had a stunning start to the season

The Red Bull clubs look to have another young star on their hands

Oscar Gloukh is being looked at with 'strong interest' by Newcastle, Aston Villa and Arsenal but they are far from being the only interested parties with the likes of Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund all monitoring his progress.

The report claims that RB Salzburg could be open to accepting offers of around €35 million (£29 million) in January for the youngster which could be appealing to Newcastle.

It obviously wouldn't solve the right-winger problem, but his signing could unlock the door to Eddie Howe rejigging his system.

Gloukh isn't the immediate fix we need but could be excellent for the future

The issue, of course, is that Gloukh is only 20 and we've seen the softly softly approach Eddie Howe takes to integrating younger players into the side, so even if we move for him in January, he's not likely to feature much in the second half of the season.

With five goals and three assists from 14 games already this season, Gloukh is definitely an exciting prospect, but he very much feels like one for the future rather than the answer to Newcastle's immediate problems.

Given the calibre of the clubs who are monitoring Gloukh, however, if Newcastle could steal a march on them and swoop for him in January that could potentially be a huge piece of business going forward and it's believed that the player himself is open to a move to the Premier League.

This definitely feels like one we should be involved in at the very least.
