Newcastle United are already looking ahead to the summer transfer window despite there being nine days remaining in the January window.

Noises from the club have made it pretty apparent that there won't be any business being done this month, but with some huge commercial deals set to hit the books later this year, Newcastle should have much more spending power in the summer.

There are several positions in the team that need desperate attention and that need will be even stronger come summer if these rumours of big-name exits are to be believed.

Eddie Howe is looking for a new striker

One position that needs additions before anyone leaves is up front where we just have Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson who are natural strikers.

Now a report from Football Transfers has suggested that Eddie Howe has got his sights set on Slovenian forward Benjamin Sesko who currently plays for RB Leipzig.

Newcastle have looked at Sesko before but nothing ever materialised, but it sounds like we never took our eye off the prize and Howe now feels that the summer is the right time to make a move for the 20-year-old.

Sesko would be the perfect summer signing for Newcastle

Sesko has bagged seven goals in 24 outings in all competitions this season, including two goals in the Champions League. His goals return is more impressive when you take into account he's not played a full game once so far.

There are question marks now over the future of Callum Wilson, so even though Newcastle need additional strikers, Sesko could be more of a replacement than an addition.

Either way, Sesko would be a fantastic signing. He's already proven himself at the top level in the Champions League and for Slovenia, he fits the profile of a Newcastle signing in that he's young but already playing at a high level, yet still has potential to improve. He's not likely to come cheap, but if we can sign him up it will be a hell of a signing.
