Football is probably the last thing anyone associated with Newcastle United wants to think about after yesterday's battering by Bournemouth.

I know I was hoping that it was all a bad dream yesterday, but instead, it was just bad.

Anyway, time doesn't stand still for us to reflect on such a poor performance, but what yesterday did for us was reinforce the need for more squad depth.

Eddie Howe needs more players he can rely on so that he can rotate the squad. A nine-game unbeaten run with a mostly unchanged side is great, but inevitably, those players are going to run out of steam and that's exactly what happened against Bournemouth.

Luiz Henrique is reportedly on Newcastle's radar

Are Newcastle looking to hijack Crystal Palace's move for Luiz Henrique?

And while the transfer window is open, Newcastle have made it very clear that they'll not be dipping into the market this month.

However, that hasn't stopped rumours from surfacing and now Newcastle are being linked with 24-year-old Botofogo star Luiz Henrique who is being chased by Crystal Palace.

A report from Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport (via London World) has named Newcastle as competition for Henrique's signature, with Fiorentina and Zenit St Petersburg also chasing the Brazilian.

We don't see this one happening

Botofogo want £25.3 million for Henrique and Crystal Palace are said to be leading the way and also have the advantage of Botofogo and Palace both being part-owned by John Textor.

Luiz Henrique has spent some time playing in Spain before moving back to Brazil, and the right-winger has been capped six by Brazil.

In all honesty, we think Corriere Dello Sport just plucked our name out of the air to flesh out their story. As much as we want a new winger, we expect that will wait until summer, and we also expect it will be someone with more Premier League experience.
