Newcastle United exit looms as Alex Murphy set to move out on loan after handing in request
Newcastle United youngster Alex Murphy recent spoke about the need to move away from the club on loan this season.
The 20-year-old has been floating around Eddie Howe's first team over the last 12 months, but with Sven Botman returning from injury, Alex Murphy's days of warming the first-team bench seem to be behind him for now.
Recently Murphy spoke about wanting to leave on loan to get some first-team experience rather than playing in Newcastle's Under 21s.
Now it seems that the Republic of Ireland U21 international will get his wish today.
Alex Murphy looks to be heading to Bolton Wanderers
Craig Hope posted on X with a brief update suggesting that Murphy is heading to Bolton Wanderers on loan.
"➡️ Understand Newcastle defender Alex Murphy will head out on loan to Bolton today"
It's a good move for Murphy who will be happy to get some first-team football under his belt having been within touching distance of the Newcastle first-team at one point.
Alex Murphy's move could put the Lloyd Kelly rumours to bed
On the flip side, it likely means that any deal for Lloyd Kelly is highly unlikely to happen.
The 26-year-old has been linked with moves to Fenerbahce and Juventus, but Newcastle have slapped a high asking price on the player who signed in the summer for free after leaving Bournemouth.
A deal never looked likely with Eddie Howe calling Kelly an 'important' part of the team, but with Newcastle allowing Alex Murphy to leave, Kelly can probably rest easy now.
