'Deal on': Fabrizio Romano says Lloyd Kelly could be on the move this month as Italian club come in with bid

Lloyd Kelly was linked with a move from Newcastle United to Turkish club Fenerbahce this week but it was reported that the bid failed to interest the Magpies.

Even though Kelly joined Newcastle on a free transfer in the summer and is on an insanely high wage, the club felt that Fenerbahce's offer was way below their valuation of Kelly.

As we have said, there's obviously a lot more that goes into transfers than what we laypeople believe because to us, picking up any kind of fee for a player who cost us nothing to buy and is just eating up the budget with his high wages seems like a no-brainer.

Luckily, after rebuffing Fenerbahce, reports are now saying that Juventus have come in with a higher offer for the former Bournemouth man.

Newcastle have rejected a verbal loan to buy approach from Juventus for Lloyd Kelly

Rumours started swirling late on Sunday morning before Fabrizio Romano chimed in on X, confirming Juventus' interest.

"🚨⚪️⚫️ Juventus have asked for Lloyd Kelly as new centre back with verbal bid rejected by Newcastle for loan with buy option clause.

"Juventus remain interested after #NUFC rejected €13m proposal from Fenerbahçe this week; Juve now hope to advance for fee around €15m.

"Deal on."

Juventus are hoping to tempt Newcastle into talks with an improved offer

Once again it seems that Newcastle will not be bullied into a sale of any player below their valuation, and have already rebuffed Juventus once, but Romano seems to think that there's life in this one yet.

A bid of £12.5 million, which is higher than the £10m that was the rumoured bid by Fenerbahce, could tempt Newcastle to come to the negotiating table.

A quick flip for a profit would be a good move for Newcastle given their issues with PSR. I realise I was crying about the lack of squad depth after we were battered by Bournemouth, but Kelly has hardly made any kind of impact since he arrived so would we really miss him in any real terms other than numbers? I don't think so. Sell!
