Charlie McArthur moved from Newcastle United to Carlisle United on loan last week and made his debut against Bradford on Saturday.

The 19-year-old was thrown into the starting lineup straight away by former Newcastle defender Mike Williamson with the Scottish defender picking up a yellow card in his first run-out for Carlisle.

Meanwhile, another former Magpie was due to make his Carlisle debut but had to miss out.

Paul Dummett joined Mike Williamson last week after being released by Wigan Athletic, but a car accident on Friday ruled Dummett out of the game on Saturday.

Mike Williamson confirmed that Paul Dummett went to hospital for checks

Williamson confirmed to BBC Cumbria (via Newcastle World) that Dummett was fine and it was just a precaution to leave him out of the game on Saturday.

"He was taken to hospital just for checks and everything has come back absolutely fine. But the decision was taken not to involve him."

Carlisle ended up losing the game 1-0 and will be wondering if Super Paul Dummett could have prevented that defeat.

Paul Dummett was due back in training today

We're glad it was nothing serious and that Dummett was expected to return to training today (Monday).

It's great to see that our loanees are being used as they're supposed to and McArthur got straight into the first team, although whether he got the nod because of Dummett's situation, only Williamson will know for sure.

Newcastle will be hoping that there will be many more appearances to come for McArthur as they've not had the best of luck with loans lately.
