Carlisle United manager Mike Williamson has raided Newcastle United for promising youngster Charlie McArthur.
Former Newcastle defender Mike Williamson recently brought former teammate Paul Dummett to Carlisle after Wigan Athletic released the ex-Wales international.
Now, just a week later, Williamson has gone direct to the source and brought in Charlie McArthur from Newcastle on loan for the remainder of the season.
The former Kilmarnock youngster signed a new contract with Newcastle before making the switch to Carlisle according to the Newcastle United website.
McArthur joined Newcastle from Kilmarnock in 2022 with a tonne of promise and has been a strong player for the Under 21s and is now being given a shot at more competitive football.
He has already made 15 appearances for the stiffs this season and will now strut his stuff in League Two.
The 19-year-old has also captained Scotland U19s and will be looking to continue to rise through the ranks for his country.
Newcastle recently saw Isaac Hayden go to QPR on loan and now Charlie McArthur has followed Hayden out the door.
There's still plenty of time left in the window to find loans for other youngsters too with Garang Kuol in desperate need of a good spell.
Meanwhile, Atlanta United look set to take Miguel Almiron away on a permanent basis in a £10 million deal.
