Newcastle United signed young winger Yankuba Minteh in the summer and immediately loaned him out to Dutch champions Feyenoord.

The 19-year-old Gambian is currently on international duty at the African Cup of Nations where scouts from Barcelona have been casting a watchful eye over him.

Minteh hasn't even made a single appearance for Newcastle since signing, not even in a pre-season friendly, and is now being looked at by Spanish giants Barcelona according to Mundo Deportivo.

Minteh has been in fine form for Feyenoord and Gambia

In fact, it was only when the young star was injured that he actually made it to Newcastle for the first time to be assessed as his transfer and subsequent loan move all took place in Holland.

Minteh has put in some good performances for Feyenoord with Arne Slot heaping praise on the winger several times.

There have been cries for Newcastle to end his loan early to bring him to the Toon when injuries got too much to handle.

Newcastle could make a hefty profit on Minteh

Now with Barcelona sniffing around, it's that extra bit of reassurance that we've definitely got a good player on our hands and that we must keep hold of him.

Selling Minteh to Barcelona before he's even kicked a ball for the club would be absolute madness, but if they were to come in with an offer that eclipses the £5million we paid for him, there's potentially some sense in the deal.

We'd rather see what he can do in black and white first, though.
