Eddie Howe rings the changes as Newcastle United lineup announced to face Burnley
Newcastle United are set to face Burnley at St James' Park in around an hour in a good old 3pm non-televised kick-off.
Eddie Howe will be hoping for a response after watching his side throw away two points on Tuesday night when they allowed Tottenham Hotspur to equalise late in stoppage time.
Meanwhile, Burnley are simply hoping to halt their run of defeats, which currently stands at five in a row.
Eddie Howe has gone with a strange side today, making several changes to the side that started against Spurs on Tuesday.
We're genuinely wondering if Eddie Howe is trying to throw this game for some reason
Before we get to those players on the pitch, the big story is that Yoane Wissa is on the bench for the first time this season.
Also on the bench are Lewis Hall, Joelinton and Sandro Tonali as Eddie Howe has gone wild with his team selection. Lewis Miley also drops to the bench, so our midfield is made up of Bruno Guimaraes, Jacob Ramsey and Joe Willock. We are genuinely wondering if Eddie Howe wants to win this game at all.
At the back, Lewis Hall is replaced by Dan Burn, with Tino Livramento keeping his place on the right. Again, is he trying to throw this game or what?
That midfield has taken the wind out of our sails
Howe has gone with sheer pace up front with Anthony Gordon and Anthony Elanga flanking Nick Woltemade, so at least we've got that going for us, even if neither winger has exactly inspired confidence this season.
There's every chance that this team will work, but the shock of seeing Willock and Ramsey starting has knocked me for six.
