The search for a quality right-winger must come to a head for Newcastle United this summer especially after allowing Miguel Almiron to leave.

Newcastle sold the Paraguayan back to Atlanta United in January, leaving Jacob Murphy as the only recognised right-winger in the first-team squad until the summer.

Eddie Howe was already short of options in that position before allowing one player to leave, but the fact that the club sanctioned that move suggests that they are confident that they will sign a replacement this summer.

There have been many names mentioned, with Bryan Mbeumo of Brentford often touted as the priority, while Johan Bakayoko from PSV seems to be the second choice.

Newcastle have been told Nicolas-Gerrt Kuhn will cost £26m

It's expected that both of those options could be quite pricy which is why the news reported by The Chronicle today is rather tantalising.

Celtic's in-form winger Nicolas-Gerrit Kuhn is being monitored by Newcastle and the report claims he could be available for just £26 million.

The German impressed Alan Shearer in midweek, scoring against Bayern Munich in the Champions League. Shearer was on commentary duty and was positively purring about Kuhn.

"He did not waste his opportunity. He did not give up on it, took a touch and it was deserved. Some of his play was fantastic and that goal was as well."

Celtic stand to make a hefty £23m profit on Kuhn

Celtic only paid £3 million for Kuhn in the summer, and he's already bagged 18 goals and provided 11 assists this season, and it's now expected that Celtic will cash in on the huge profit this summer.

It may be a big profit for Celtic, but it still seems like a bargain for whoever picks him up, especially when we're looking at £50m+ for Mbeumo.

It's always a risk signing from the Scottish Premiership as it's such a different league to the EPL, but at £26 million, this one seems worth a punt, especially given Eddie Howe's magic touch.
