Bryan Mbeumo has been touted a 'dream signing' for Newcastle United as the Magpies search for a top-class right-winger to fill the gap left by Miguel Almiron.

Newcastle actually needed a right-winger through the door in the summer, but it never happened. Then, in the winter, they sold one of the two players they had in that position when Miguel Almiron returned to Atlanta United.

That leaves Jacob Murphy to hold the fort until the summer, where the Magpies have to land a top-class winger to move them on.

Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo has often been reported as being the top target for the Magpies after such a good season with Brentford. His pace and skill, along with Premier League experience, make him an ideal candidate.

Bryan Mbeumo told to reject Liverpool and Arsenal to join Newcastle

Bryan Mbeumo has been urged to join Newcastle over Arsenal or Liverpool

Newcastle aren't the only ones tracking the Cameroon international, with Liverpool and Arsenal also reportedly keen. However, Romauld Eteki, an agent for Promosport and sports consultant for CRTV Sports in Cameroon, has told Africa Foot that Mbeumo should opt for Newcastle over the title chasers.

“Bryan Mbeumo has many suitors this season, thanks to his performances. The names of Liverpool, to compensate for a future departure of Salah, or Arsenal are often mentioned.

“However, I think Newcastle would be a good destination for him. First of all, he would pass an obvious level. Newcastle has been fighting for European places for two years, which is not the case for Brentford.

“In addition, at Newcastle, he would certainly arrive in the shoes of an undisputed starter because on the right side of the team, there is not a player who stands out.

“However, at Arsenal where Saka is unshakeable on the right or at Liverpool where succeeding Salah, the best player in the championship, the expectations would therefore be very high. Which can add additional pressure.”

Bryan Mbeumo would likely cost £50m+

It's a valid point that Eteki makes. Newcastle are desperate for someone of his position, and while Liverpool will be looking to replace Mo Salah, that is a huge burden on whoever goes in next.

Mbeumo would walk into our first-team, but under Eddie Howe, he would only get better, too. With his eye for goal, he could go on to be a legend at Newcastle.

It has been suggested that it would take a bid north of £50 million to land Mbeumo, but surely it has to be worth it.
