Newcastle United were one of the big in-form teams in the calendar year of 2024 overall, despite a blip at the start of this current campaign.

In fact, if the season ran from January to December, Newcastle would have finished fifth in the Premier League, the spot which they currently occupy this season.

Arsenal would top the table ahead of Liverpool on goal difference, who sit two points ahead of Manchester City.

A staggering 12 points behind City comes Chelsea who have a seven-point gap over Newcastle in fifth.

Can Newcastle improve on 5th in 2025?

Now we're into 2025, we'll see how Newcastle fair this year. If we continue our recent form into the new year we could be on for a good one.

In 2024, Newcastle United had some quality players come to the fore with Anthony Gordon, Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall breaking into the England side with their stunning performances for the club.

However, none of those three have made it into Alex Keble's Premier League team of 2024.

Alexander Isak was chosen as the striker to lead the line for the 2024 Select XI

The XI was not completely devoid of Newcastle talent, however, with Alexander Isak leading the line for the all-star team which is, unsurprisingly, made up mostly of Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea players, although Antonee Robinson of Fulham has snuck into the side at left-back.

Alexander Isak is currently regarded as one of, if not the best striker in football right now and his current form certainly reflects that.

If it weren't for his injury problems, we're sure he'd be topping the top-scoring charts this season, even with Mo Salah and Erling Haaland in the goal-scoring form they're in.

We feel that Anthony Gordon had to have been in the conversation for a place in the team, but with Bukayo Saka on one flank and Mo Salah on the other, we can see how he missed out.
