More 'sources' spouting nonsense about Bruno Guimaraes this time relating to a move to Arsenal

Things are very slow in the world of club football right now with Euro 2024 dominating the footballing headlines, so poor little club writers like us have to find creative ways to get content out there.

We opted to do a rundown of Newcastle United-linked players in action at the European Championships. Not exactly groundbreaking, sure, but at least we haven't resorted to simply making stuff up and citing 'sources' to make it sound legit.

That's happening a lot around Newcastle players lately, in particular Bruno Guimaraes who is now the subject of a story on Football Transfers that becomes less believable the more you read it.

First of all, as we've said many times already, even as recently as yesterday, we have no reason to believe that Bruno Guimaraes is going anywhere this summer. All evidence points towards him staying.

Because Bruno Guimaraes LOVES Arsenal

Bruno stories are like flies at a BBQ and we are one of those electrified tennis rackets swatting them away

But let's not let facts get in the way of a good fantasy, eh?

Football Transfers, while they agree that Arsenal will not activate Bruno Guimaraes' £100million release clause, do believe they will come in with a sub-£100million offer in a player plus cash deal.

So far, almost plausible, however unlikely, but you can tell it's just pure speculation because they haven't even got a clue who the player offered to Newcastle would be. If they had an inkling of there being any truth in this story, surely they'd know who Arsenal are planning to offer up as part of the deal.

Not happening unless they offer Declan Rice

We can't imagine Mikel Arteta coming to Eddie Howe with £80million and an Arsenal squad list saying "take your pick".

Football Transfers list a few players who they believe are on the cusp of leaving the Emriates and could be of interest to Newcastle - see if any of these look like a fair deal to you: Oleksandr Zinchenko, Emile Smith Rowe, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Eddie Nketiah, and Thomas Partey.

We can't be the only ones thinking we'd need the money and at least two of those players to even make it worth answering the phone. Straight swap for Declan Rice maybe?

Bruno Guimaraes is way too valuable to Newcastle United to entertain such a move. Once again, we're absolutely not buying it.
