We've now got less than a week to go until Bruno Guimaraes' £100million release clause in his Newcastle United becomes a thing of history.
The window to activate the clause is due to slam shut on Monday 24th June at which point anyone who wants to acquire Bruno's services will have to enter negotiations with Newcastle United, and we dare say that £100million wouldn't even be a jumping off point.
It's very unlikely now that anyone will activate Bruno's clause and given the club's firm stance on letting him go, as well as Bruno's own insistence on being happy on Tyneside, we're very confident Bruno will be on the pitch in Newcastle's colours on 17th August to face Southampton (barring any injuries or fixture changes).
However, that's not stopping journalists from trying to stir the pot with a report coming out of Spain from SPORT claiming that Bruno is ready to turn his back on Newcastle.
Sport Witness also picked this report up to call them out for writing pure fantasy, and they clearly used their browser's inbuilt translator on the Spanish text which translates 'keen' to 'crazy' which makes the story even more outlandish suggesting that Bruno Guimaraes is itching to leave.
SPORT claims that Hansi Flick sees Bruno as the perfect signing for Barcelona writing:
"Hansi Flick thought it would be perfect to bring in a pivotal player such as the Brazilian, who is keen to leave Newcastle and embark on a new professional career. At the age of 26, having previously played in Europe with Olympique Lyon, he feels the time has come for him to take the final step in his career. His great dream has always been to play for Barça."
The fact that Bruno Guimaraes has a dream of playing for Barcelona isn't new information, he has been open about that in the past, but he's also said it's something he wants to do in the future, while usually qualifying it by saying he wants to see out the project and win something with Newcastle first.
For a player who is 'keen' to leave he has a funny way of showing it by buying a £4million house in the region.
Finally, suggesting that a move now would be his final step is absolutely crazy and it just shows up this entire article for the joke that it is.
Now, can we just leave the bloke alone and all accept that he's staying put? Thank you.
