Newcastle United's big summer signing Nick Woltemade had to watch on from the bench for three quarters of the match tonight, but he made sure he made an impression when he was given his chance to shine.

Eddie Howe is still taking things easy with Nick Woltemade after his £69 million switch from VfB Stuttgart this summer.

The plan was always to have Yoane Wissa lead the line for Newcastle in the early part of the season while Woltemade was slowly introduced.

However, the DR Congo striker picked up an injury on international duty just days after signing for the Magpies, which has accelerated things for Woltemade and Howe.

Nick Woltemade is going to be drowning in goal involvements

Howe is still to fully remove the cotton wool from Woltemade, who saw Will Osula start ahead of him against Bradford tonight and score two goals in the process.

However, when Woltemade replaced Anthony Gordon at 68 minutes tonight, he made sure that Howe took note, and the Newcastle fans paid full attention too.

On social media, there were many posts singing the praises of the German forward for his link-up play. The word 'unique' was quite prevalent amongst the posts, too, and that's the perfect word for him.

Nick Woltemade has limitless potential

Granted, Woltemade was brought in to be a striker, and that involves scoring goals, but the big German could be just as important as a creator of goals as a finisher.

His ability to take the ball under his spell, hold it up and then release it at the right time is amazing. It's going to be mentioned time and time again, but for such a tall player, his footwork is extremely impressive.

It may be too soon to get too carried away about what a good player he can become, but we're doing it anyway. Nick Woltemade is going to be a massive player.
