Newcastle United's on-loan defender Lloyd Kelly was in action for Juventus again last night as the Italian side took on PSV in the Champions League.

Juventus went crashing out of the Champions League after an extra-time winner from PSV's Ismael Saibari ultimately settled the tie.

Lloyd Kelly played all 120 minutes for The Old Lady as he continues to establish himself as a first-team starter despite middling reviews so far.

It was another 'average' night for the Newcastle man whose move to Juventus is expected to become permanent in the summer.

Lloyd Kelly is struggling early on at Juventus

Lloyd Kelly was called 'hesitant and awkward' by the Italian media

Italian outlet Calciomercato dubbed Kelly 'hesitant and awkward' in their review of his performance, ultimately giving the former Bournemouth man a score of 5.5 in their ratings.

"‘Moved to the center of defense, Kelly still hesitant and awkward. Cambiaso more than sufficient, indeed almost excellent low on the left, at least until the mess co-produced with Kelly and Nico on the initial goal by Perisic."

This follows a series of unimpressive ratings for Kelly, but it is early days yet, and he's getting more opportunities to improve at Juventus than he was at Newcastle.

Newcastle are set to bank £20 million for Lloyd Kelly in the summer

Lloyd Kelly struggled to play his way into Eddie Howe's first team, as new signings often do, but with Dan Burn and Lewis Hall playing so well this season, the door was firmly shut on Kelly, so it made sense to send him away.

We've been very critical of Kelly since he arrived on a free in the summer, but we do hope that he finds his feet at Juventus and goes on to be successful.

As long as we get our £20 million for him, he can go do what he likes in Italy.
