Newcastle United allowed Lloyd Kelly to move to Juventus on transfer deadline day in January in a loan move which will become permanent in the summer for a fee of around £20 million.

It was a huge deal for Newcastle given that Lloyd Kelly had only recently joined the Magpies in the summer, coming in on a free transfer after leaving Bournemouth.

With it being the second time that Eddie Howe had signed him, we all thought that there must be a reason for this and expected big things from Lloyd Kelly.

Unfortunately, the 26-year-old could not break into the Newcastle starting lineup, and on the rare occasion he did find himself on the pitch, he failed to impress.

Things haven't got off to the best of starts for Lloyd Kelly at Juventus

It seemed crazy that a club of Juventus' stature would be so keen to sign Kelly, but it was true, and that's where he ended up.

Despite only joining last week, Kelly has made one substitute appearance in Serie A and followed that up with a start in the Champions League. Juventus beat PSV 2-1 on the night but Lloyd Kelly was given ratings that suggested he was on the losing side.

He got pasted in the media after his debut against Como, but things didn't get better for him last night as Football Italia noted that both TuttoSport and La Gazetta dello Sport were very harsh with their ratings for the Englishman.

Kelly was blamed for PSV's equaliser

Kelly was blamed for Ivan Perisic's equaliser as the former Inter man sent Kelly for a hotdog before firing home.

La Gazetta gave Kelly a 5/10 while TuttoSpot gave him a 4.5/10 and weren't exactly forgiving in their write-up either.

"The Englishman had a slow start and struggled with physical duels, just like against Como on Friday. His stormy night continued in the second half as he turned his back to Perisic, who controlled the ball and scored from inside the box."

Newcastle did well making his deal contain an 'obligation' rather than 'option' to buy; otherwise, he could be heading back to Tyneside.
