Troy Deeney includes 'frightening' Newcastle United 'beast' in latest Team of the Week
Newcastle United picked up their third consecutive Premier League win on Wednesday night after coming from behind three times to eventually beat Leeds United 4-3.
It was far from a perfect performance by the Magpies, but there were a few standout players, and two of those have been recognised by Troy Deeney in his latest Team of the Week selection for the BBC.
Lewis Miley missed out on Deeney's selections despite playing in three different positions and completing 97% of his passes once again.
Perhaps he couldn't bring himself to include a defender who had been part of a back line that conceded three goals.
Harvey Barnes and Joelinton made it into Troy Deeney's Team of the Week
Deeney did, however, pick two of Newcastle's goalscorers, choosing Harvey Barnes and Joelinton, the latter of whom Deeney referred to as a 'beast'.
"Joelinton (Newcastle): He's just a beast. The work that he has done, and the work Eddie Howe has done on him, is just frightening. He keeps popping up with important goals, but remember that they signed him as a striker. He's just turned into a beast of a midfielder who runs all over you."
"Harvey Barnes (Newcastle): Two goals, the second being the match-winner, which was absolute limbs and scenes. He's another player where you're like: "Go on, show us who you are." Unfortunately he always leaves you a little bit wanting. I'm always thinking there's more to come from him. That's not to take anything away from his goals."
Michael Salisbury got a close look at the 'frightening beast' that is Joelinton
Joelinton truly is a frightening beast, and no doubt referee Michael Salisbury thought that too on the stroke of half-time on Wednesday when it looked like the Brazilian was about to knock his head off after being denied a penalty. Joelinton had blatantly dived, so we don't know what he was arguing about, but that's J7 for you.
Harvey Barnes was simply sensational from start to finish on Wednesday and was Newcastle's biggest goal threat for the entire game. He never stopped.
Players tend to have an opponent they just love to come up against, and Leeds United is that team for Harvey Barnes, and boy, did he show it on Wednesday.
