'I need four, five years more': Sandro Tonali gives Newcastle United fans hope for future in new club video

Sandro Tonali has become an absolute beast in Newcastle United's midfield this season after Eddie Howe discovered the formula that works for the Magpies' midfield.

It has been a bizarre couple of years for Sandro Tonali since his arrival on Tyneside.

The Italian scored on his Premier League debut to get off to the greatest start imaginable, but then questions started to be asked over where he and Bruno Guimaraes could play together. But before Eddie Howe could find an answer, the Italy international was slapped with a 10-month ban after admitting to breaching gambling rules.

When Tonali returned to the fold a few games into this season it took him a bit of time to find his groove, but after some tinkering, Eddie Howe found the magic formula to get Newcastle's midfield ticking, with it being labelled by many as the best midfield in the Premier League, and Sandro Tonali was a massive part of that.

Tonali is now one of the first names on the team sheet, and fans are blown away every week by what he can do on the pitch, especially by the insane amounts of energy he seems to have.

However, as always happens when Newcastle has nice things, there are those who will conspire to take them away and as such Tonali has been consistently linked with a move away from the club.

Mostly, the stories have involved him returning to Italy, and nine times out of ten, those rumours have originated from his home country, as the Italians are desperate to see their brightest star return home.

Tonali needs four or five more years at Newcastle. He said it himself.

Tonali and his representatives have shot down the rumours many times, but there's still a fear that exists that he could leave Newcastle.

However, in a new 30-minute video following Sandro Tonali in a typical day on Tyneside, the midfielder has hinted that he could be here for years to come, saying he needs more time to brush up on his Geordie.

“I don’t understand Geordie. I need four, five years more…”
