Newcastle United fans will have woken up this morning with sore heads, and a tinge of excitement about the big day tomorrow and then remembered what happened yesterday and everything is ruined.

Or was that just me? I don't even drink and I woke up with a hangover.

The downside of writing about Newcastle for a living is that when we lose we can't just ignore it and move on, we've got to watch highlights and interviews and relive the nightmare. This was one of those games that just gets worse the more you see it, and then it's not helped when the manager's post-match interview does nothing to instil confidence.

Eddie Howe showed us Plan B yesterday and it looked an awful lot like Plan A

Newcastle have been dire on the road this season. Yes, we have had many injuries and our fit players are running on fumes and blah blah blah. However, at the end of the day, those same players can turn it on at St James' Park, so what's going on when we're away?

For us, the problem is that Eddie Howe is expecting the lads to play the exact same way on the road and it's costing us massively. For months there has been no Plan B, until yesterday when on 37 minutes Howe made a change, turned to Plan B ... and nothing changed.

After the game Howe spoke to NUFC TV and gave his usual 'put this behind us and move on' speech, but it was the very end that set alarm bells ringing. It may have been the case that Howe misspoke, or maybe I just took it the wrong way.

'We've enjoyed playing at home this year, our away form has not been as strong. It's certainly something we'll have to address, we've talked about it we've focused on it. I don't quite know where to go with it now. I think we just have to win football matches on the road."

We are not piling on the Howe Out bandwagon, we're just venting.

Is that setting off anyone else's spidey sense?

I'm not saying that Howe's time at Newcastle is up. Far from it. I still have full faith in him, this has been a difficult season for so many reasons and it's a huge learning experience for everyone at the club, not just Eddie Howe, but that last statement is scary.

We just have to win football matches on the road. Simple. Just like that.
