This week Kieran Trippier did a quiz-style interview with the Premier League, where he revealed some things about life at Newcastle United.

The Premier League YouTube channel released a video with Kieran Trippier this week in which the Newcastle skipper named the player he enjoys playing with most.

Trippier is a vital part of the Newcastle set-up under Eddie Howe, joining the club in the gaffer's first transfer window and being a key component in the club's turnaround that season.

Like a fine wine, Trippier is only improving with age

Since then, he's somehow got even better despite being 33, with many pundits hailing him as one of the best right-backs in the world.

In his chat with the Premier League YouTube team, Tripper provided a huge hint as to why Newcastle didn't prioritise a right-sided forward this summer as he revealed the special connection he has with Miguel Almirón.

“I really enjoy playing with Miggy, I think we have a great understanding on the pitch and we have a great friendship off it. We just seem to have that real connection down the right side. I enjoy playing with all of them, but I have a special bond with Miggy.”

With Tripps and Miggy developing such an understanding it now makes sense why Newcastle didn't sign a right-sided forward this summer. For the last two summer windows fans have been convinced that Howe would bring in a replacement for Miggy, but, as is so often the case with players under Howe, hit sensational form last season.

Trippier and Almiron are set to tear Crystal Palace a new one this afternoon

Almiron's form has continued into this campaign and now, with Trippier revealing how much he loves playing with the Paraguayan it all makes sense. Why disrupt a good thing if you don't need to?

The duo will be in action today as Newcastle host Crystal Palace, so hopefully we'll see them linking up down that right flank and tearing the Palace defence apart.
