Fabrizio Romano is at it again with the transfer specialist now saying that £120,000-a-week Newcastle United player has a 50/50 chance of leaving this week.

It feels like Newcastle are more likely to lose players than they are to sign any players before Friday's transfer deadline.

Marc Guehi supposedly said his goodbyes to Selhurst Park yesterday, but we read incorrectly into similar behaviour last week, so who knows?

Meanwhile, the future of right-back Kieran Trippier remains a hot topic of discussion, especially thanks to The Daily Mail writing about his off-field woes. Although they never named him, all Newcastle fans knew exactly who they were talking about.

Yup, that's the face of a happy man right there

Fabrizio Romano thinks Trippier could be on the move

Whether that situation is directly fuelling the rumours that Trippier wants to leave Newcastle is hard to tell right now, but we dare say it's playing a part.

Eddie Howe tried to brush aside the idea of Trippier leaving in his pre-match press conference on Friday but he didn't do a very convincing job.

Now Fabrizio Romano has told Give Me Sport that he believes there's a 50% chance that Newcastle lose their £12 million signing before Friday.

We'll have to wait and see

Everton have been credited with an interest but there are other clubs monitoring the situation too.

“For Tripper, there is a possibility to leave, but it’s not guaranteed yet. I would say in this case it’s a 50/50 situation. It’s true that Everton are one of the clubs interested, but at the moment, they still don’t have any kind of agreement or anything advanced for Trippier.

“There could also be other clubs. For example, at the beginning of the transfer window, there was interest in a swap between Malick Thiaw and Trippier with AC Milan, but they then signed Emerson Royal from Tottenham Hotspur, so they are not in the market for a right-back now. There could be other clubs, and I think the possibility for Trippier to leave is not guaranteed, but concrete.”

I guess all we can do is sit back and wait to see what happens next.
