While Newcastle United fans wait anxiously for some actual transfer news journalists are still out there talking about potential targets in an attempt to keep us from losing our collective minds.
The summer transfer window has been open for 40 days now and Newcastle still haven't made what fans would call a significant signing, although finding out that Odysseas Vlachodimos cost us £20million certainly feels significant, but perhaps not in a good way.
The one area most fans are keen to see addressed is the right wing. Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy have served us well, but we need to step up a gear if we're going to consistently push for Champions League qualification, and with the best will in the world, Miguel Almiron isn't the answer.
There are talks that Miggy will be offloaded to Saudi Arabia this summer but the Paraguayan is determined to stay on Tyneside.
As for who would replace Almiron should he go, or indeed even if he stays, is still anyone's guess, but there's one name that won't go away.
Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga has been on Newcastle's radar for a while. Probably ever since he made Dan Burn look like a statue last season.
The Swedish winger, who signed for Nottingham Forest a year ago for just £15million, is said to be a 'big target' for Newcastle this summer.
Journalist Ben Jacobs has been speaking on Forest Fan TV about Newcastle's interest and he believes the Magpies are still very keen.
“Yeah Newcastle love Elanga and they tried to get Elanga originally in the deal for Elliot Anderson. I’m not sure Miguel Almiron will go to Saudi Arabia.
“Elanga has been a big target for Newcastle, but they’ve had no breakthrough and Forest don’t want to sell.”
Newcastle have plenty of other names on the list for right-wing as well as Elanga, and it's about time we saw some movement on that front now. Please.
