Newcastle United brushed aside the challenge of Wolverhampton Wanderers at St James' Park on Wednesday night with a 3-0 win.

Two goals from Alexander Isak and one for Anthony Gordon sealed the deal for Newcastle as they moved up to fourth spot in the Premier League while simultaneously dropping Wolves back into the bottom three on goal difference.

Isak needed a stroke of good fortune for his first goal as he bundled through a sea of Wolves bodies before hitting a shot that took a wicked deflection to catch Jose Sa completely off guard.

His second was typical Newcastle brilliance as Bruno Guimaraes played a stunning disguised pass right through the Wolves defence to find Isak in acres of space right in front of goal. All he had to do was pick his spot and the goal was guaranteed with Sa given no chance.

Alexander Isak oozes class

Once again Isak played a huge part in Newcastle's third after latching on to a Joelinton through ball after keeping himself onside by the width of a shoelace.

Running into the box, Isak spotted Anthony Gordon at the back stick and tried to dink a pass over to the winger but it was blocked. Isak pounced on the loose ball and jinked his way into a position where he could find Gordon with a pass who duly swept the ball into the bottom corner.

During the celebrations, you could see Anthony Gordon saying something to Isak, and now the club has confirmed what Gordon said to his striker.

Anthony Gordon called Alexander Isak 'unselfish' after supplying him with an assist

Bearing in mind Isak was on a hat-trick and would have been well within his rights to hit a shot, the fact he tried to find Gordon shows just how classy Isak is, and that was appreciated by Gordon.

"That's so unselfish. So unselfish."

It certainly was. Nobody would have begrudged Isak going for his second Newcastle United hat-trick after picking up his first against Ipswich last month, especially given his current form.
