Obviously, there's no bad time to end a negative run but there should be extra incentive for Newcastle United to return to winning ways at Molineux tomorrow.

Nottingham Forest beat Liverpool at Anfield today for the first time since the 1960's so every hoodoo has to come to an end eventually.

Newcastle's Molineux issues haven't gone on for anywhere near as long as that one, but five draws and one defeat in the past six meetings at Wolverhampton Wanderers' home ground is more than enough.

Not since both teams were in the Championship have Newcastle won at the Wolves den but there's now an extra incentive for the Magpies.

A win tomorrow will see Newcastle into the top 3 of the Premier League

Despite being undefeated this season, Newcastle have been less than convincing on the pitch, but as we've said after every game, the performance is of a much lower importance than the result.

If you needed any more convincing of that fact then should Newcastle break the curse tomorrow and win, they could go second in the table (depending on how Arsenal get on against Spurs).

Still, a win would definitely see us in the top three of the Premier League.

It might seem early to be getting excited about league positions but it all builds up

Of course, it's very early days and the league positions at this point don't matter too much, but there's a lot to be said for the confidence that being in and around the top of the league can inspire.

We spent a lot of the 2022/23 season in the top four and that's where we finished. We weren't anywhere near as consistent last season and ultimately couldn't break into those European places.

So it might seem a bit soon to be celebrating being around the top four (provided we do win tomorrow), but it doesn't hurt to get an early start on things. Manchester City already have a gap at the top, I bet they're already starting to feel more confident about the season ahead.
