Reports have come out tonight that Newcastle United are close to sealing the deal to bring Marc Guehi to Tyneside.
After a frustrating summer which has seen the Magpies to questionable business so far, the fact that the club are so close to signing England's best player at Euro 2024 has the Toon Army absolutely buzzing again.
While there's still a way to go before the deal is completed, and we would warn against getting overly carried away until we see the inevitable paparazzi shot of Guehi entering the Benton training ground, it's still good to have something to get excited about.
It could also potentially give Newcastle fans something else to be excited about.
The potential incoming singing of Guehi has been offset by the rumours of Anthony Gordon heading to Liverpool.
It seems that slapping a £100 million price tag on the electric winger isn't doing much to put Arne Slot's lot off a move. Or at least that's what the media would have you believe.
However, Newcastle signing Marc Guehi might just be that little bit of magic that convinces Gordon to stay put.
The two have a good friendship which was evident in the interviews Gordon gave while on England duty.
Not only that but it reinforces the fact that Newcastle are on a mission to be contenders. Yes, Liverpool may be ahead of us right now, but that won't last forever and Anthony Gordon could become a legend on Tyneside for being a huge part of delivering silverware back to the North East.
Let's get this Guehi deal signed, sealed and delivered so we Gordon can tell Liverpool where to go.
